Yesenia’s Life
When Yesenia was six years old; she went to elementary school in La Jolla. Yesenia was a happy little girl during her elementary school years. She had a mother that at that time who was thirty-two years old. Her mother was a single mother, who had two kids. Yesenia always thought that the actions of her only daughter have always given her mom, Sonia, a hard time. Jesus, who was her only son, also gave her a lot of headaches. During this time Yesenia's family was small it was just three people. When Yesenia was ten years old, that’s when everything started. She had her first period. When she had her first period, her whole entire world changed. This event changed the way that she started thinking.
When she turned thirteen she had her first boyfriend, who at that time was eighteen. Her and her boyfriend started doing things that never were suppose to happen, (things like sex). When she was thirteen and half, she got pregnant! When her whole family found out she was pregnant, it was shocking for them since she was just thirteen. Yesenia was just a little girl, who got pregnant by her eighteen year old boyfriend. Yesenia thought that her life was going to be much better because she was going to have her baby’s dad supporting her during her whole pregnancy. Not everything was like she thought; it turned out to be the opposite. Her mother would always tell her a saying in Spanish, "no todo esta en color de rosa," which means “everything is not of color pink,” in other words not everything is easy. Her mother was always right.
Three years later Yesenia turns sixteen and her daughter is two years old. At this time, Yesenia is almost finished with high school. One year later, Yesenia finished high school and goes to college. She decides to become a doctor and goes to medical school. After fifteen years of struggle, Yesenia, on December 7, 2025, she becomes a professional doctor with her license. Her daughter is finishing high school. I believe her mother would be proud of Yesenia and all her accomplishments.

My Own Goals for the Future

What did I improve in this semester?
  • Algebra because I'am the kind of person who does not like math and these two months I improved a lot more.

A grade I could improve a lot more for this coming semester.

  • Biology by doing more work for example a independent book.

How am I going to improve for this semester.

  • I'm going to pay more attention and participate more in both classes.

Two important goals for this year for myself.

  • Go to church to listen to the word(preacher) of GOD.

Eboni's goals for these six months.

  • Potty train her and start her in Head Start.

Tongan Sexual Tradition

Male Circumcision

  • In pre-contact Tonga, newly pubescent males were tefe, or circumcised by cutting one slit in foreskin, on the underside of the penis. Afterwards, the family held a feast for the new "man".

First Menstruation

  • In Tonga, a girl's mennstruation was celebrated by a feast. This practice continued up until the mid-1900s, at which point it fell out of favor.

Sexuality

  • In Tonga, female pre-maritial chasity was the ideal, if not the norm.Theoretically, a girl received suitors at a faikava, or kava-drinking gathering. She presiided over the bowl, made the kava, and handed out the cups.the suitors sat in a circle around the bowl, chatting, bragging, arguing, and showing off for the demure young lady. All was done under the eye elders, thus protecting the maiden from any unseemly advances.

  • There was less tolerance of sexual mistakes on the part of high-born women, who were expected to "demonstrate" their virginity by bleeding heavily on their wedding night. The groom's aunts would display the stained barkcloth(or later ,sheet),after bathing the bride to inspect her for cuts that might have been inflicted to draw blood. It is said that grooms might show their love and concern for non-bleeding brides by cutting themselves and smearing their own blood on the barkcloth or sheet.

  • In common with many other Polynesian societies, ancient Tonga also made room for the male homosexual. These men wore female roles, and had casual sexual liaisons with other men.

  • Commoners adopted the ideal of pre-maritial virginity and the display of bloody bedclothing.Divorce theoretically became formal, and difficult, though this may have only slightly discouraged informal separations and subsequent common-law unions.

Prop 4

I think everyone deserves to live in this world no matter how corrupted it is or the situation. Every parent deserves to know what their children is up to. I'm a parent and I wouldn't want to know that some one who is part of me is about to be killed. The best thing to do is to have that law approved. DON'T KILL A INNOCENT LIFE WHO DESERVES TO LIVE JUT LIKE YOU.

what I saw in the museums I went to?

There was so much to see! I couldn't even believe it. In the air plane museum there was a lot of old fashion things. It looked in the museum like there was a lot of people who died from just flying a air plane. In memory of all those people they had lots of there belongings. Than after that museum I went to the car museum which had old fashion cars like from the 70's or 80's. That was my favorite museum. In that museum they had so many different cars in sizes and colors. Oh, and I forgot about the motorcycles there were so many of them too in sizes and colors.

How is Life in my Opinion

Today in this day Sep 16, 2008 at this time 10:38a.m. Everything has changed comparing today to the life of Egypt back in the days. For example like I said earlier women were raise to have children and be silent. Refering to todays day many woman are raised so different. For example many woman don't even want children or get married. Each one of use have so many beliefs.

Life in Ancient Egypt

  • Although ancient Egypt was a rich land where people could live well, it also suffered from droughts, epidemics and invasions. It was normal for the people to see many of their children die young.

  • What were their beliefs was "If a man's son accepts his father's words, his plans will not fail...When he is old and repected he will speak likewise to his own children, renewing the teaching of his father...he will speak to their children so that they in turn will speak to their children."All of this sounds so similar maybe some of our parents told use this one day refering to a womens life.

  • Over the course of more than three thousand yearsEgypt was governed by, 30 different dynasties of pharaohs.

  • Girs were raised so different than a man.For example girls were brought up to be obedient, hard-working and silent.

  • They should want to devote their life to their husband, and have many children.

Speech Against the Spanish

The quote I liked was that "Are you not bound to love them as you love yourself?" Why did I chose this one because if you don't love the people who surround you how are you going to love yourself. So why not just give that respect to those who really deserve your love.

My Life as a Taino

Dear Journal
A few days ago a person was talking to me and her name was Tilitaki. She was telling me she was getting raiped by the one of the spanish man that have just came to our island. By the look on her face you could of tell she wanted to die. Today in in the morning when each person came out of there huts she was hanging from a tree naked with a rpr around her neck. The most terrible thing was that she had a big words all over her body that said "DON'T LIVE IN THIS WORLD ANY MORE IF YOUR JUST SUFFERING." Right now I'm sitting inside my hut listening and watching how a person gets their head cut off for not doing there work. I'm so hungry I could even feel my baby moving inside me. Well I think I'm going to let you go dear journal before i get my head cut off too.

The day you were born Eboni

On the afternoon of your birth
Everything around me was more brighter
My whole life changed
The first time I saw you
I started crying because of joy

When I had you the first thing that happened
was that your grandmother carried you and
said that you had colored eyes. I didn't know
what to feel if pain or joy becuse you were born .

Whenever I see you sleeping I can't
believe your my daughter.
You've made my life better sence the first
time I saw you.
Everything what I went through was worth it

Es un milagro de Dios que estas conmigo.

Writing with Irregular Verbs in Simple Past

On Saturday my family hung around and celebrated my brothers b-day. We ate cake until we got full. Then after the cake I just went to my room and saw a movie that's called Gladiator. When I was watching the movie I just laid down and started chilling with my baby. Then on Sunday I went to church in the night.Monday I was supposed to go to a soccer game, but then it started raining. So I did not go, and helped my mom with some chores instead. My mom was doing a application for a job so she said she wanted me to help so I did. Then on Monday afternoon I got in a argument with my mom and accidently hit one of my toes.So my toe got real swollen and I couldn't walk.
