Music Therapy Letter

September 22, 2009

I love the music therapy program at Lindsay Community School. My daughter has gone to music therapy for almost a year. Music therapy really helped my daughter’s communication skills progress. I would recommend this program to all the mothers who have kids who are younger than three years old.
It’s worth spending your time in music therapy with your child for many reasons. When you spend time in music therapy, you and your child learn from it a lot, more than you think. This program benefits your child’s life. This class has improved my child’s development. Every time when my daughter sees the image of a fish in the streets, she tells me to sing to her a song named “Fishes.” I think music therapy really affected my relationship with my daughter a lot. I see her more often and we sing together. She enjoys it and I love it. The way I would describe how my daughter feels is happy and excited when we sing together. There are times when my daughter feels not so good to go to school, so I start to sing to her a song named “Hello How Are You” and she gets in the mood of wanting to go to school. Now that my daughter goes to Head Start, she likes to sing songs in class with all the other kids in her class. There is no other program like music therapy that really helps your child develop like this one. Music therapy also helps them to learn how to share and get along with other kids. I would like to see the program continue for years.
Sincerely,

Yesenia Estrada

Teen Power and Control/Domestic Violence

Anger/Emotional Abuse is one of the common ones in teen mothers. I would say that many girls are involved in these relationshps because maybe the boyfriend she has wants to control her. By putting her down with disrespectful words. Man like that are not worth your precious time. Man tend to feel a woman feel bad about what her physical looks or calling her names. I was a victim of emotional abuse. I remember I use to be in a relationship like that with my babydad. We would always call each other all kinds of names. Without carring to hurt each others feelings. Now that I remember I think that he was always trying to make me feel bad putting me down with all name calling. When him and me always finished calling each other names on the phone after we hung up I would start to cry. Each one of those words he would tell me I would remember. Up to this day I still remember some of the words he would call me. Now I'm glad I got over him. Never let a man put you down.

Supremacy Clause Opinions

1)Most white people didn't like to be fair with the Native Americans. Thomas Jefferson was the only one to like Native Americans. The promise that Thomas Jefferson said in the quote was not kept, because the other white people didn't let the Indians get their own chunk of land.

2)The white people forced the Cherokees to become a religion they didn't want. The whites didn't care about what the Cherokees thought so they did what they wanted with them. Cherokees suffered in the cold weather and without clothing or blankets. There were even mothers caring their child's dead body in their arms.

3)Indians had lost ninety million acres of reservation land. The Dawes Severalty Act caused Indians to lose the majority of their reservation lands.

4)Captain Jack and his troops fought the U.S. men. They were forced onto a reservation Oregon to live with old tribal enemies who continued to torment them. Their request to be given a place to live in their homeland was denied by the government soldiers over and over again with his superior military tactics.

5)The Supremacy Clause is that they wanted their land. The white people wouldn't want to give them nothing. Andrew Jackson took away the land and resources oil and crops.

6)I think Iwould follow there orders. I would think about killing myself before dying in the frozen weather with my children. Why do that? I'll stay strong and watchover my children because they'll neeed me even more in those hard times.

!Obama's Great Speech!

1)There was a lot of things Obama said that made me think different. What I liked more about what he said was "No one has written your destiny! Your the one who makes your own destiny!" Those words touched me, because that is so true. No one forces you to make things you don't want to.

2)Commit= to dedicate time to your studding.

Future=the time after the present.

Don't give up=to give the best of you.

3)Yes, Obama is inspiring me to do something big in my life. It makes me think that I really want to be someone big in life. Give my daughter the best I can and show her that school is the way to !SUCCESS! I would think that the challenge would be to go to college. Because how would I afford to go to college. Especially if your a single mother.

4)It means a lot to me. I've always thought that "the choice I make today will affect the rest of my life." I have done many choices that really haven't been the best. Life gives you lots of lessons that could be sad or happy, but never give up on what you really want to achieve. Remember your the only one who makes your own destiny.

5)My contribution would be to help people who are immigrants of this country. I think that immigrants deserve the same rights that a citizen of this country has. It's sad to know that there are many immigrants in this country that don't even now how hard life is in the U.S.A.People from other countries think that the U.S.A is rich and full of gold. Not even one fourth of this country is filled with love or happiness. Even though no ever helps you never expect nothing back.

Words Alive Discussion/Piece of Cake Memoir

Yesterday that we had the discussion of Piece of Cake I enjoyed everything. I was the facilitator of the discussion. When we first started the discussion I was so nervous. Then I started getting involved with all the ladies in the group. The discussion was about how hard it was for Cupcake the protagonist of the book to not have someone by her side to love her. Cupcake had a life of prostitution, used drugs and gang member. When I started reading the book I couldn't believe everything Cupcake was going through so young at 11 years old. That's when the terror started in her life. To tell you the truth I recommend this book to everyone. What I learned is that life is not too easy for other people. I think I'll never understand why life is so hard on humans.

Piece of Cake Memoir in my Opinion

Question number three is the one I'm going to answer.

She realized that everything she did in her life was regret. She wrote the novel so that people would've read her life and not do the same mistakes she did. She is revealing everything she went through in her life.

Piece of Cake Discussion Questions

1)Why do you think it was so easy for Cup to use drugs as if it was chocolate she was eating?

2)Do you think everything Cupcake went through benefited life in any way?

3)Do you think that Cup now in this day she regrets having those three abortions?

The subordinate character in her is Tommy. because he was a guy she lived with for five years. Even though she would cheat on him every ones in a while. She loved him and they both used drugs together.

DOL Five Sentences

1)I assume that Michael Jackson was assassinated.
2)My philosophy is different in raising my kids than my grandmother.
3)Obama has abolish many laws.
4)Dinosaurs are extinct.
5)It's inevitable for me to stop eating.

Manifest Destiny

1)Because there were many different other tribes. That had there own beliefs. Different diets and dress code.
2)NA had: Food: corns, furs
Eur had: tools, horses,
3)NA= land for everyone-based in religious that there is no such thing as "private property."
EUR=legal documents/ titles gave you right to own land-based on beliefs.
4)Because many people have different beliefs. Think about the world for one minute. There are many different cultures in this world. Whites believed that GOD wanted them to own/control all of the land from the coast to coast regardless of what other cultures believed or wanted.
5)Maybe if they would've won the battles everything would be much different now. People would have a different culture or maybe dressing code. Different food, languages. I think Mexicans wouldn't even exist. Nothing would've been the same as now.
6)Animals were destroying crops from areas. Continuation of disease spread. Manifest Destiny= using GOD as an excuse to kill and take land.
7)King Phillip rejected converting to Christianity. NA woman/children who survived were sold into slavery, Europe. "Christians" NA who end up killing Phillip.

NA= Naive Americans
EUR=Europe

A Piece of Cake

Dot will be considered as a subordinate character because?

She really wasn't a protagonist. The whole time the only only reason why Cupcake was talking to her was because she was using her to steal things from any store. Dot is a character who didin't have a part in this story.

Cupcake's dad is a dynamic person because at the beginning of the story he really didn't take part in her life. Now her dad is involved in her life even more and they even live together now.

Cupcake's biological dad keeps on being the same stupid person. He's always just looked for her because of her money that her mom left her before she past away.

Cupcake's Conflict

Cupcake's conflict is that now at her dad's house there are three hoes living with them and all they do is turn tricks (prostitute) and do drugs. Cupcake loves to sell weed to her customers and all kind of drugs. Her dad has sex with the three prostitutes that live in the house. All what they do is just waist their time doing things that don't even benefit their lifes.

Japanese Footwear

Japanese shoes both have a Y-shaped thong which is gripped between the big toe and the second toe and passes over the top of the foot. The sandals for women are round from the outside and the men have them like square like a shoe box. Japanese footwear is not seen that often these days as is usually only worn with other traditional clothing. Zori are sandals made from rice straw or lacquered wood and are worn for special occasions. Construction workers who can be seen in brightly colored overalls with very baggy trousers often wear jika tabi, cotton tabi shoes or boots with rubber soles. This form of footwear is not only distinctive, but extremely comfortable lightweight and practical. Japanese footwear allows free circulation of air around the feet, making it perfect for the hot humid summers of Japan.
In the United States we have a difference with the Japanese culture we don't have the same tradition of wearing sandals for special occasions. Instead men wear shoes and women wear high heels.

Obama's Presidency

Dawn
History
Obama’s Educational Speech
Obama is planning so many things for education. He’s a person who’s just looking forward to accomplishing as much as he can for education. Two of those goals he’s accomplishing are expanding early childhood education program. The next goal is making college affordable by giving tax credit. Obama’s State of the Union was when he went over everything he wants to do in his presidency. He spoke of so much stuff that is happening in the U.S, ¾ of jobs require college, and less than ½ have college education. Another goal is that 250, 000, or less will not see any increase in taxes. Three objectives Obama is working hard on too. Is high school graduates can volunteer in their community for one year & get college paid for. This objective is a great idea because it would help the students who can’t afford college. Families need to take responsibility for their child’s education. Parents really have to start getting involved in their child’s education.

Official Law Against Women in Iran

Article 300 of Penal code states that the "Deyeh" of Muslim woman is halfof the "Deyeh" of a Muslim man. By law the life of a woman has half the value of a man in Islamic criminal law in Iran.

It's hard to imagine that a woman is worth half a man. How can that happen when a woman is worth more than anything in this world. "No" matter how bad that woman is or what she's done, nobody deserves to not be worth nothing. Just thinking of that official law in Iran, makes me so mad. If it wasn't for a woman that man wouldn't exist. Don't the man in Iran ever take into condsderation that a woman gave birth to him. I still keep on asking myself how can they make a woman less than a man. A woman is worth a lot more than anything in this whole entire world.

Persepolis

I really enjoyed the book by the way it was written. A graphic novel was much easier for me to read. At first it was a little hard to understand witch bubble to read first. I would really prefer to read a graphic novel than a novel with just words. My favorite part of reading Persepolis was that we took turns each one of use being a character in the book. I would recommend this book to other teenagers, but not only them older people too. Why would I recommend Persepolis because not a lot of peolpe go through this every day and it's sad to listen to a person talk about all the killing that happened in Iran during war. I personally believe that we should value everything we have. I think the movie was much different, and did not liked it at all. To tell you the truth I would not recommend the movie. The only thing I liked about the movie was that they passed the second part of the other graphic novel.

Music Therapy

I believe music therapy helps my daughter in many ways. One of them is she knows many different ways to explain herself by using her hands. The second one is that Eboni helps me more to clean up after herself. For example after we finish with the music instruments in music therapy each child puts back whatever instruments they used. Music therapy really does benefit my daughter a lot.
